Arron Villaflor top-billed the June 4 of Maalaala Mo Kaya where he played a young man from Tacloban City who tried to kill himself by jumping off the San Juanico bridge. In an interview with Push.com.ph, Arron confessed that he sympathized very much with his character because of what he went through. “Very deep ‘yung kwento.
Arron was very proud of this project because this was his first time to play a lead role in an episode of MMK. He shared that he owed so much from director Jerry Sineneng. “Ang laking preparasyon ang ginawa ko. Heavy drama talaga kasi. Kaya thank you so much kay Direk Jerry dahil siya talaga ‘yung dahilan kung bakit naging maganda ‘yung MMK episode namin. Since first time ko siyang maka-work sa Dahil May Isang Ikaw lagi siyang nandiyan para gabayan ako. Sana marami pa kaming pagsamahang project.”
The 20-year-old actor talked about giving his 100% for his performance so as not to disappoint both the management and the loyal fans of MMK.
Parts of the episode were shot in Tacloban with only a handful of staff to facilitate the production. Arron revealed that taping became a tough, but at the same time unforgettable experience. Masayang experience ‘yun for me.”
Arron confessed that until now he still misses his good friend and fellow Gigger Boy AJ Perez who passed away in a vehicular accident last April. AJ left behind two important projects, one as the leading man of Julia Montes in a Star Cinema movie and another one in the teleserye Maria La Del Barrio. Sam Concepcion had been chosen to take over AJ’s role in the movie while Arron had been tapped to play his role in Maria La Del Barrio.
“Pray for me. Para sa iyo ito, ‘tol. Sana gabayan mo kami,” was Arron message to AJ. He then thanked ABS-CBN for giving him and Sam the opportunity to honor their deceased friend. Kapag nakakasama nga kaming Gigger Boys, naaalala namin ‘yung happy moments naming magkakasama.”
Arron recalled that on the night that AJ died, he felt an unexplainable premonition.
