As one of Kim Chiu’s leading men in Binondo Girl, Matteo Guidicelli is aware that avid fans of the Kimerald tandem might compare him with Gerald Anderson. But instead of worrying about it, he said he believes that they are mature enough to accept Kim’s newest endeavor in her showbiz career. “Siyempre malaki ang pressure kasi bago ang Binondo Girl tapos it’s a perfect project from ABS-CBN. Pero sana magustuhan po ng fans ni Kim kasi si Gerald ‘di ba with Sarah Geronimo sa Catch Me… I’m In Love, bago yung team-up nila but still sobrang successful yung movie namin. So sana ito din magustuhan ng fans,” he said during the story con of Binondo Girl.
Matteo fondly recalled that his very first show in ABS-CBN was Let’s Go! which also included Gerald and Kim back in 2006. “Actually, sobrang blessing po yung makasama si Kim sa isang full-length teleserye kasi yung unang-una kong trabaho bilang artista kasama ko si Kim at Gerald. Tapos Kim and I got to work together sa Your Song Presents Kim, ngayon naman sa Binondo Girl. So sobrang excited and sobrang blessed talaga ang feeling ko. Hindi na mahirap mag-adjust kasi kahit papaano nakapag-bonding na rin kami.”
The Fil-Italian actor added that he would do his best to take care of Kim since they’re not just colleagues, but also good friends off cam. As it is, his rumored sweetheart Maja Salvador happens to be one of Kim’s closest friends these days. And when asked how he would describe his Binondo Girl co-star, he easily replied, “Unang-una, si Kim, she loves to eat, kain ng kain ‘yan sa set. She’s a very sweet girl, down-to-earth tsaka simpleng babae siya. At siguro kung dadalhan ko siya ng food sa set, e ’di bibili ako ng extrang siopao at siomai pandagdag sa ibibigay sa kanya ni Xian (Lim).”
Although he’s not yet allowed to reveal the details about his role, Matteo assured everyone that the powerhouse cast coupled with the exciting twists in the story are definitely something to watch out for. “Yung role ko dito ibang-iba din kasi usually ang roles ko good boy. Ito ang first role ko sa teleserye na parang bad boy at astig ang dating. Grabe po yung cast dito ibang-iba, talagang drama and comedy mixed together. It’s a very different story. The Chinese-Filipino culture is clashing together so the viewers will surely learn a lot of family values from each episode.”
