Based on the Nielsen Radio Audience Measurement (RAM), DZMM got an average audience share of 28 percent from January 2010 to December 2010 to top all AM radio stations in Mega Manila. DZMM was way ahead of its nearest competitor DZBB, which managed only an average share of 21 percent, followed by DZRH with 19 percent.
ABS-CBN Head of Manila Radio Division Peter Musngi said this great news has given their group more reason to celebrate as DZMM also received over 20 awards from different award-giving bodies in 2010.
“The awards and the outstanding ratings of DZMM only reaffirm the stature of the station as the one and only leader in AM radio. Like we always say—Una sa Balita at Una sa Public Service. We are more than pumped up to continue our leadership by giving the best in news and public service to the listeners of DZMM Radyo Patrol Sais Trenta and the viewers of DZMM TeleRadyo,” he said.
So far, DZMM has been right on track after notching an audience share of 32.9 based on the Nielsen Mega Manila RAM for January 2011. With this figure, DZMM easily eclipsed the combined audience share of DZBB (16.4%) and DZRH (14%) for the same month.
DZMM also brought home three awards at the UPLB Gandingan Awards in Laguna, including Best AM Station. Anchor Ted Failon also took home the Best AM Announcer trophy while his show “Tambalang Failon at Sanchez” won as Most Development-Oriented AM Program.
Tambayan 101.9, ABS-CBN’s FM radio station, was also victorious after being named Best FM Station. DJ Chinaheart and DJ Charlie also tied for Best Disc Jock while the “Martin D at Chinaheart sa Tambayan 101.9” show was named Most Development-Oriented FM Program.
DZMM’s “Kapamilya Shower Na” project, which was the predecessor of “DZMM TLC,” also won an Award of Excellence from the prestigious 46th Anvil Awards recently.
DZMM also successfully held the 12th edition of the DZMM annual fun run for a cause, dubbed this year as “Takbo Para Sa Karunungan” last Sunday (Mar 13). About 4,000 runners converged at the starting line at Quirino Grandstand to run for the benefit of 25 young scholars from Metro Manila. Among the celebrities who participated were ABS-CBN Chairman and CEO Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III, former Vice President and current DZMM anchor Noli “Kabayan” De Castro, Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim and Kapamilya artists like singer-actress Karylle.
