Mario Maurer's Movie Dominates the Ratings

The country went crazy over the premiere of Thailand’s blockbuster film “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” on ABS-CBN when it became a trending topic on twitter and landed on the top five most watched programs last Sunday (June 5).

The movie did so well in its morning slot by earning an 18.8% national TV ratings as compared to GMA 7’s “Amaya Balik-Tanaw” that rated only 9.9%, based on data from Kantar Media.

The movie’s strong showing is an indication that Mario and Baifern are the newest Asian idols to hit Philippine TV and the first Thai heartthrobs to captivate the hearts of Pinoys. Mario even trended on Twitter Philippines while the movie was airing last weekend.

Meanwhile, Korean stars also continue to dominate Filipino homes every weekday afternoon with “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho” and every weeknight with “I am Legend.”
Mi Ho and Dae Woong’s odd love story in “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho” continues to captivate viewers nationwide. “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho” registered an average national TVaverage rating of 13.7% vs GMA 7’s “Playful Kiss” with 11.7% last May 30 to June 3.

“I am Legend,” topbilled by Kim Jung-Eun, also rated higher than GMA 7’s “Temptation of Wife.” It garnered a national TV rating of 10.2% vs. “Temptation of Wife” with 9% last Monday (June 6) when the latter premiered on primetime.

Kapamilya Asianovelas are definitely on a roll and most preffered by Filipinos. Don’t miss the final two weeks of “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho” airing weekdays after “Frijolito,” and keep watching Solenn’s battle in life in “I am Legend,” weeknight after “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition” only in the first and true home of Asianovelas, ABS-CBN.
