Even in death, actor AJ Perez continues to touch others by giving them the gift of sight.
On the same day that Perez was buried, a corneal transplant was performed on 8-year-old Daniel delos Santos.
Daniel is one of two recipients of Perez's corneas.
Hours before surgery, Daniel was in high spirits and excited about the prospect of having normal vision. His mother, Sarah, was more apprehensive about the surgery but is hoping for the best.
Daniel's doctor, Jacinto Dy-Liacco, explained that it will take one year to determine if the operation was a complete success. He said doctors will be watching out for infection and corneal rejection as well as increased eye pressure. But hours after the surgery he will be able to say if the transplant itself was a success.
Daniel has had corneal ulcer in his right eye since he was two months old.
