In a move to raise funds for the charitable projects of Bantay-Bata 163 for needy children, concerned leaders in Vienna and Linz, Austria crowned Margie Inselsbacher the new Mrs. Philippines-Austria (Linz) earlier this month.
The coronation was held on April 10 at the Kultur-und Veranstaltungszentrum Hörsching in Linz with about 400 guests in attendance.
“Indeed, it was a successful event,” Larry Subido, one of the organizers, said.
“The popularity contest is also seen to provide camaraderie, unity and enjoyment for Filipino mothers in the community,” Subido added.
Eight pretty candidates showed off their form in gorgeous evening gowns and lovely Filipiniana gowns.
Program coordinator Johmari Segura said the event became successful due to the generosity and support of friends and members of the community.
“The candidates were very cooperative during our practices. One can feel the support for each other,” Segura said. As program coordinator of the search, he explained the objective of the benefit show.
“Aside from helping our needy kababayans back home, the search for Mrs. Philippines-Austria (Linz) had been organized and designed to give married Filipino-Austrian women a wholesome opportunity to gain self confidence, exposure, [and] experience, gain friends, and foster love and pride for Filipino cultural heritage,” Segura added.
“This benefit show has provided me the opportunity to build up self-confidence, personality and inner strength. Further, it enabled me to know more about the Filipino culture and traditions... It instills pride in myself and provides exciting new life experiences as I continue to contribute and support projects that would benefit the needy in the Philippines and at the same time to promote Filipino culture and tourism here in Austria,” Inselsbacher told ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau.
Ethel Pfeiffer, the main organizer in Linz, said the event aims to bring out the best asset and potentials of Filipina mothers, who, despite their years immersing themselves in the Austrian culture, still keep their Filipino identity, tradition and cultural heritage intact.
The winning Mrs. Philippines-Austria (Linz) 2011 was awarded a trophy, a bouquet of flowers, and cash prize. Proceeds of the show will be donated to Bantay Bata 163 of the ABS-CBN Foundation.
