Over three million children are overweight or obese in the Philippines, according to a study by the World Health Organization.
Based on the report, Filipino kids today have different eating habits and preferences. They eat too much fast food and junk food, which lack nutrition. They have also become less active when it comes to exercise and other types of games or play.
ABS-CBN news anchor Bernadette Sembrano believes that nourishing the body doesn’t stop at taking in food. To ensure good health, she said children should be given, not too much or too less, but proper nutrition.
This Thursday (July 7) in “Krusada,” Bernadette will show the reasons behind obesity, how to prevent it, and how to beat it.
For her report, she will introduce us to four-year-old John Azzryl, who already weighs the same as a seven-year old kid. She will also tackle the “OMG: Oh My Gulay” campaign, which pushes for ensuring the proper nourishment of children, especially those in elementary school.
This project aims to impart to everyone the importance and advantage of eating vegetables. Through planting squash, string beans, eggplant, tomato, bitter gourd, and other crops, children have access to nutritious food.
Listen, take part, and be one with “Krusada” this Thursday (July 7), after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN. Because it takes more than words to make a stand.
