The crowd in Araneta Colisem broke into wild applause as their candidates for Binibining Pilipinas 2011 paraded on stage Sunday night. From 40 candidates competing for the crown, the competition was trimmed down to 15 semi-finalists.Special awards were given out to Queenie Rehman for Best in Swim Suit, Luzelle Felipe for Best in Long Gown and Angela Ong for the People's Choice for the Face of Binibining Pilipinas 2011.
Mary Jean Lastimosa was named second runner-up and Janine Tugonon, first runner-up.
Making it to the top 3 were Isabella Manjon, Bb. Pilipinas-Tourism; Dianne Necia, Bb. Pilipinas-International and Shamcey Supsup, Bb. Pilipinas-Universe.
"I didn't expect talaga… Pero salamat at sinagot na ni God iyong dasal ko na magka-korona!," Necio said.
"Ang lamig pa nga ng kamay ko…," Manjon added.
Meanwhile, Supsup admitted that she feels pressure in following the lead of Venus Raj who became Miss Universe 4th runner-up.
"Of course (pressured), but I'll just do my best when I'm there, that's all I can do," Supsup said.
Saying this is the best batch of candidates they ha've had for the competition so far, pageant organizers are confident that the country's Bb. Pilipinas 2011 winners will bring home the crowns from international beauty pageants.
