Since emerging from Pinoy Dream Academy in 2008, Bugoy Drilon has led a steady singing career that he is very thankful for and he has even more choice projects in the works. “Magtu-two years na ako with Star Magic.
The 22-year-old native from Camarines Sur said he has already learned a lot from being in showbiz for over three years now.
Currently promoting his album Nang Dahil Sa Pag-Ibig under Star Records which was released last year, Bugoy said he is also looking forward to starting work on his newest album which was something he did not expect to be offered to him. This will be my first project na kakanta ako ng mga English na kanta, I think it’s happening this year. I don’t know. I’m going to try that naman. Sa lahat lahat ng albums ko, naka-apat na ako na albums (one album was a compilation with other artists), wala pa akong English na kinanta,” he said.
Despite his steady popularity, Bugoy admitted he still has some reservations regarding singing in English. “Sana magustuhan nila. I’m really hoping hindi naman ako malait sa diction ko,” he told Push.com.ph.
Bugoy also said she is especially proud of his current album because of he was able to contribute a song he wrote. Siya yung next video na ilalabas from my third album.
As part of the Star Magic tour that recently went to Europe, Bugoy felt very blessed to be included in such a talented group. “Kasama ko doon si Ate KC Concepcion, Matteo Guidicelli, at Derek Ramsay. Pumunta kami ng Zurich, Switzerland. Sobrang ganda at sobrang lamig doon. The talented singer admitted that their one-night only show was an unforgettable night for him. “Isang show lang pero malaking venue siya. Nakapag-meet and greet kami with the fans and then pumunta sila sa hotel kung saan kami nag-stay. And then lumabas din kami at nag-ikot ikot dun so nakita ko yung mga lugar dun. Pinaka-first time ko yun sa Europe,” he said.
The following months will prove to be just as busy for him as he leaves in August to perform in the US. Bugoy also told Push.com.ph that his distinct voice has definitely helped him set himself apart from other contemporary singers. “Di ba alam naman natin na matagal na rin ako sa showbiz, at hindi pa rin nila ako nakakalimutan so it’s my advantage na kilala pa rin nila ako. malaki ang utang na loob ko dun. Actually wala akong training eh. So kahit mapaos man ako, the same pa rin yung quality ng boses ko. Puwedeng good thing and bad thing yun kasi ‘pag good thing, kahit anong kantahin ko nakakanta ko, ang bad thing dun is hindi ko alam kung paano siya gagamitin in a proper way.
Bugoy also admitted that he likes making music videos for his songs because it has also helped him practice his acting skills. At saka para mas maka-create sila ng story nung kanta,” he explained to Push.com.ph.
