Bayan Mo, Ipatrol Mo's Tribute to Jose Rizal's 150th Birthday Anniversary

Dr. Jose Rizal once said that youth is the hope of the fatherland. After 150 years, about 140,000 Bayan Patrollers still keep his words alive as they inspire hope and bring for a cleaner and graft-free country.

This Friday (June 17), Bayan Patrollers nationwide will gather to celebrate our national hero’s 150th birthday by staging a “Bayan Mo, iPatrol Mo” day to be held in three key cities in Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

From 5 AM to 8 PM, people are invited to register as Bayan Patrollers in Luneta, Manila; provincial capitol lagoon in Bacolod; and Capitol University in Cagayan De Oro. Commemorative pens, notebooks, and t-shirts will be given to those who will register.

Since Rizal is an ophthalmologist, BMPM will also give away 150 reading glasses to the first 150 people, aged 38 and above and with eye problems, who will register.

Also, people can share how they can be a hero in their own little ways via the Bida Juan booth and get a souvenir photo taken at the Rizal photo wall.

For the Luneta BMPM site, the Department of Tourism will be a holding a trade fair with performances from select cultural performers, choral street dance groups, and marching bands. Those who will bring their oldest Rizal book or wear their best national costume will can get the chance to win a BMPM travel bag or cash prize respectively.

“Bayan Mo, iPatrol Mo” is a continuation of ABS-CBN’s award-winning “Boto Mo, iPatrol Mo” campaign. BMPM basically empowers Filipinos to use technology to report electoral fraud. Through BMPM, ABS-CBN broke the news on the Maguindanao massacre, considered as the deadliest act against journalists in the world, when a Boto Patroller who first sent a picture from the crime scene.
