ABS-CBN's Larunungan Launched in ToyCon

ABS-CBN, Hero TV, Studio 23 and ABS-CBN Multimedia proudly present its toy booth in the Asia’s biggest annual toy event, the TOYCON, which takes flight on June 18 and 19, 10a.m. to 9p.m. at the Megatrade Halls 1, 2 and 3 SM Megamall.

Besides the educational Kapamilya-inspired toys that will be sold in the ABS-CBN Licensing booth and the Amped gaming booth by ABS-CBN Multimedia, ABS-CBN Integrated Public Service also sets up a donation box inside the Hero TV booth for its Larunungan: Kalinga Kapamilya Toy Drive. The project encourages the public, especially kids, to show their love and support for other children by donating toys and other educational materials. The goal is to collect toys for the about 1.9 million kindergarten students who recently enrolled in the 38,000 schools and day care centers nationwide.

In the launching of its Larunungan: Kalinga Kapamilya Toy Drive recently, Gelo Perez, brother of toy drive ambassador late actor AJ Perez, said education has always been the priority of his brother. “For someone as young as he was, with the help of our parents, I am very proud of my brother’s determination to prioritize education and made it a strong foundation in his very short but very meaningful life.”

Among the toys which can be donated are puzzles, multicolored spindle, fit-in geometric shapes, wooden beads, graded cylinders or any shapes with graduated sizes, number, shapes and color sorter, number play cubes, colored cubes, table blocks, floor blocks, domino type toys, matching card games, game boards, learning charts, activity books, shape sorting games, dolls, lego, dress up frames, carpenter tools, garden play tools, play dough materials, doll bed with doll accessories, number play cubes, peg board with 100 pegs, inch cubes and assessment box.

Meanwhile, now on its 10th year, the annual TOYCON features an exhibit of the year’s biggest movie, “Green Lantern” by DC Comics and Warner Brothers Pictures. Green Lantern-inspired activities such as cosplay contest, toy exhibit, custom art and figures, face-painting and scavenger hunt, take place in the TOYCON.

Another big movie highlight is the last installment of the Harry Potter movie series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Original costumes and movie props from previous Harry Potter movies will be on display at the TOYCON, courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures.

Other movies highlighting the convention are Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Captain America care of Solar-UIP Films and Paramount Pictures.

TOYCON will also be the host event for the Asia Cosplay Meet Philippines (ACMP) competition, an international cosplay competition which is the annual qualifier to the Singapore Asia Cosplay Meet finals. ACMP will determine the best cosplayers of the country who will travel to Singapore on June 25 to 27 and compete with the cosplayers from Singapore, Malaysia and Korea.

Besides the cosplay scene, there will be panel discussions featuring various creators and artists who have made it big in the international scene with their work in comics and toy designing. Guest artists include superstars in the DC and Marvel comics, Leinil Yu, Gerry Alanguilan, Harvey Tolibao, Jay Anacleto, Stephen Segovia, Carlos Pagulayan, and much more! And there will also be an exhibit from Secret Fresh which will feature renowned toy art designs from Amanda Visell and Carlos East of the Beast Brothers, with local toy artists, Nemo Aguila and JP Cuison.
