Vice Ganda proved that he is one of the most successful comedians today when the pilot episode of his new show, Gandang Gabi Vice, last May 22 (Sunday) posted 21.9 percent in the ratings in comparison to the 7.5 percent of its competitor, according to Kantar Media-TNS for the national household TV ratings.Vice also said that he does not need to worry about overexposure because his new comedy musical show is a way different from what he does on the daily morning talent-search show Showtime. “We will make it a point that it will be a different show. Iba naman kasi ang ginagawa ko sa Showtime. ‘Yun din naman ang pakay ko, ‘yung mabigyan ako ng venue na maipapakita ko ‘yung mga gusto kong ipakita pero hindi ko maipakita sa Showtime. Marami pa kayong hindi nakikita sa Showtime na makikita ninyo dito sa bagong programa, ibang-iba, ibang Vice,” he assured.
In Gandang Gabi Vice, the comedian features different showbiz personalities with whom he has light and funny conversations. In his pilot episode, Vice had Bea Alonzo, Kim Chiu, and Angeline Quinto as guests.
Asked whom his dream guests were, Vice was quick to reply, “Ito talaga suntok sa buwan kasi malayo [mangyari] pero since pantasya naman, gusto kong makatsikahan sina Tito, Vic, and Joey. Icon ko kasi ‘yun. Idol ko ‘yung tatlo kaya pangarap kong kahit tsikahan lang, kung ‘di ko makasama sa buong project.”
He revealed that he once had a short talk with Joey De Leon over the phone. “Sobrang saglit lang, ilang segundo lang. Ipinakilala ni Ogie (Diaz, his manager) nung makausap sa telepono. Nag-good luck lang siya, napapanood n’ya raw ako, [at] husayan [ko pa],” he beamed.
Apart from his successful TV shows, Vice is also busy with his other commitments, such as an upcoming movie and a music album. “Masaya. Sobrang grateful dahil andaming blessings. Sabi ko nga when it rains it ‘fours,’ apat kasi ‘yan eh; album, movie, bagong TV show atsaka recording,” he joked. “Ine-enjoy ko lang lahat. Sabi nga nila strike while the iron is hot. Hindi ko alam kung mauulit pa ang chance na ito kaya grab lang ng grab ng lahat ng opportunities. I-enjoy lahat ng moments at i-share ang lahat ng blessings na natatanggap.”
