After being paired together on the final episode of Your Song Presents Kim last March, there has been nothing but good feedback on the acting debut of Renz Fernandez and the onscreen chemistry between him and his leading lady Kim Chiu. Although the 25-year-old aspiring actor already admitted in previous interviews that he found Kim attractive, he also wanted to focus on being able to deliver a good acting job than pursuing the pretty chinita at that time. As the son of showbiz icons Lorna Tolentino and the late Rudy Fernandez, Renz knows that all eyes will be on him once he steps into the limelight and he wants to start his showbiz career right by not getting into any kind of intrigues. On how he feels about the positive reception of his onscreen team-up with Kim, Renz credits the actress more than himself. “Kaya ganun kasi siguro magaling si Kim Chiu mag-acting tapos ako nagagandahan talaga sa kanya. So nag-blend yun. Yun siguro yung nakikita ng mga nanuod,” he said.One of the best qualities he admired most about Kim was her patience with him on the set of Your Song. Renz recalls that he is still in the period of adjustment when it comes to acting, which he only decided to fully pursue full time after finishing college. Unlike most celebrity offspring, Renz and his older brother Rap were kept mostly out of the public’s eye so as not to distract them from their studies at that time. Renz says he was lucky to be paired with Kim. “Maganda siya, mapag-pasensya at saka talented. Hard-working rin siya kaya nya na-achieve yung ganyang status nya,” he says.
Renz also admits that it certainly didn’t hurt that he is attracted to chinitas and he would definitely want to work with Kim again, if given the opportunity. “Yes defininitely I’d work with her ulit. Okay siya katrabaho. Kahit na baguhan ako, pinagpasensyahan niya ako kahit di ko kagad nakukuha yung gusto ng director nun. Patient siya sa akin sa mga eksena namin,” he admits. When asked if he would ever consider courting her off screen, Renz says it’s definitely a possibility. “Why not? Kung meant to be naman ‘di ba? why not,” he adds.
Currently single with his matinee idol-in-the-making good looks, the youngest son in the Fernandez household can definitely have his pick of gorgeous women. Aside from Kim, Renz also admitted that he also finds other local personalities to be beautiful. “Sinabi ko na dati sa press na magaganda si Kim Chiu, si Maja, si Bea, madami actually. Lahat almost. May crush din akong reporter, si Pinky Webb. Gusto ko rin yung mga mature ladies pero lahat ng mga babae iba-iba, lahat minamahal at nirerespeto.”
