After getting married to Robin Padilla and devoting her time to being a housewife, Mariel Rodriguez got the chance to return to hosting a noontime show with Happy Yipee Yehey beginning last February. Mariel is best remembered for co-hosting past ABS-CBN noontime shows Wowowee and Pilipinas Win na Win.When asked Mariel how different Wowowee and Win na Win barkadas were from her current friends in HYY, she first explained that she was very much happy with all the people she got to work with on all the shows. “Siguro hindi magiging fair kung ikukumpara ko. Iba rin naman kasi ‘yung naging experience ko sa old barkada. Hindi rin naman siguro masama to make new friends. Masaya ako kasi dahil sa HYY mas dumami ‘yung mga kaibigan ko.”
She shared that despite the cancellation of Wowowee and Win na Win, she will remain friends with co-hosts Pokwang, Valerie Concepcion, and the others. “‘Yung mga nakasama ko sa Wowowee and Win na Win, they will always be my friends. ‘Yung pinagsamahan namin talaga pinapahalagahan ko. Dun sa Wowowee, buo na ‘yun bago pa ako pumasok. Tapos unti-unti nang lumaki ‘yung samahan.”
When HYY started Mariel admitted that she was very much excited in making new friends. “Ang maganda naman kasi dito sa HYY sabay sabay kaming nagsimula. Lahat kami from out of nowhere pinagsama sama. Si Toni (Gonzaga) matagal ko nang friend, si Kuya Randy (Santiago) nakakasama ko dati kapag nagsa sub siya kay Kuya Willie (Revillame) sa Wowowee. Si Matteo (Guidicelli), Melai (Cantiveros), and Bianca (Manalo) first time kong makatrabaho. So ibang flavor itong HYY.”
Randy teased Mariel on why he thinks the latter exuded a different kind of glow as co host of Win na Win. Randy said, “As a viewer napanood ko talaga si Mariel sa Wowowee and dun talaga siya nahasa. Pero napansin ko, ang pinaka gustong gusto niya at nag glow talaga ‘yung mata niya sa Win na Win. ‘Yung puso niya sobrang masaya. As a viewer lang naman ito, he he he!” Randy referred to Mariel and Robin spending time together as co hosts of Win na Win.
