All set to star in the upcoming Kapamilya action-drama series Guns & Roses, Diether Ocampo felt honored to finally get the chance to work with Robin Padilla. “It’s going to be my first time working with him and it’s a great treat. Hindi ko in-expect kasi siyempre isa na siya sa parang institusyon natin dito sa industriya that’s why I’m very happy that I was given this opportunity to work with him,” he said.Diether, who figures in a love triangle with the action star and Bea Alonzo, said working with a veteran actor like Robin definitely has its advantages. “Malaking bagay rin kasi I also learn a lot from him. Experience-wise, mas marami siyang pinagdaanan and what I like about him is he’s also very generous, inaalalayan niya kami ‘pag may maseselang eksena, lalo na sa action dahil yun talaga yung linya niya. Kami naman baguhan sa aspeto na yun. So maganda yung dynamic dahil balance. Kasi kami naman ni Bea talagang hasang-hasa sa drama so kapag kinombine mo yun, talagang ang gandang chemistry and yun nga, we have this mutual respect for each other. Siyempre first time din niya kami makatrabaho and I’m very happy na sa initial stage of our shooting, nag-connect kaagad kami. In fact during the story conference, we were able to talk and he was very open for suggestions. Ako ganun din naman kaya maganda yung working relationship,” he shared during the Guns & Roses photo shoot at the ABS-CBN compound.
The 34-year-old actor admitted he was surprised to discover Robin’s sense of humor on and off cam. “Si Robin maraming baong jokes (laughs). Nakakagulat nga eh kasi marami rin akong napupulot sa kanya. Kasi ayaw niya rin yung masyadong seryoso sa set dahil siyempre mabibigat yung eksenang ginagawa namin so siya yung pampagaan. Talagang magaang yung atmosphere kapag nasa set siya dahil siyempre natutuwa rin yung magkatrabaho namin. Actually, yun yung mganapupulot ko sa kanyang mga joke time,” he shared with Push.com.ph.
During the course of their taping for Guns & Roses, Diether also noticed Robin’s other passions like photography. “Aside from directing, I’ve discovered that he’s also a very passionate guy. Nakikita ko na he’s been taking a lot of photos. Mahilig siya sa photography and dahil nga siyempre nag-di-direct na rin siya. I was able to watch his directorial debut niya, yung Tum: My Pledge of Love. Okay kasi maganda na may mga nagco-contribute talaga sa industry natin to add and improve the quality of the films we’re making kaya I’m really very happy dahil I was given an opportunity to work with him,” he admitted.
When it comes to Guns & Roses leading lady Bea Alonzo, Diether has nothing but praises for his co-Star Magic talent. “Marami siyang magagandang katangian na hindi nakikita ng ibang tao. Siguro mako-consider siya na isa sa pinakamalapit kong kaibigan so I would expect that she would feel the same way. I’m very happy and proud na isa si best Bey na kaibigan ko sa industriya na talagang pinagmamalaki ko,” he said.
