Bianca Gonzales Supports UNICEF's Online Auction

Celebrity host Bianca Gonzales recently joined UNICEF Philippines in launching its first fundraising auction entitled "Auction for Action".

In an interview, Gonzales said that the online auction will benefit children's programs in the country.

"We called this our UNICEF Auction for Action. Ito 'yung first ever auction na online na ginawa ng UNICEF Philippines hopefully to raise funds siyempre for the work of UNICEF in the Philippines. Lahat, 100%, as in 100 % proceeds, will go doon sa project ng UNICEF for education, for sanitation, for violence and abused children," Gonzales said.

The auction on www.ebay.ph/unicef started May 25 and features works of reputable artists in visual arts, furniture, fashion, jewelry and photography. It also offers experiential packages such as a chance to hang out with the popular football team Azkals.

"Lahat ng artworks dito dinonate lang ng mga local artists. And we weren't expecting na ganito kadaming items 'yung mabibigay. But all of them gave an item. Some [of them] dalawa pa nga 'yung binigay," the host said.

Gonzales said that the online auction will only last for 10 days and will end on Friday, June 4.

"Auction is online live. So sobrang simple lang gawin. Lahat ng mga mahilig mag-Internet, you just have to go to www.ebay.ph/unicef. Mag-register lang sila with their email address lang. Ganun kadali lang and then kung sila 'yung winning bidder, i-inform sila ng UNICEF," she said.

Asked why she is active in supporting UNICEF, Gonzales replied: "Wow, siguro ito 'yung tinatawag kong way of giving it back to the community. I've been a UNICEF supporter since 2007 and siguro, feeling ko, ito 'yung nagpapakumpleto ng fulfillment ko sa buhay. Kasi lahat naman tayo nagtatrabaho to be able to save up and to be able to help others, 'di ba? So ito na 'yung part ko na to help others."

Gonzales is co-hosting ABS-CBN's entertainment news program "Showbiz News Ngayon" on weeknights with Boy Abunda.
