Hip hop/R&B artist Young JV is leaving no stones unturned in making his second album bigger than its predecessor, “Ready Or Not,” which has already earned him several awards including Best New Artist at the Urban Music Awards and Best Performance by a New Male Recording Artist at the Awit Awards.
These days, Young JV is busy with songs that he co-wrote or will sing or do both with Gloc-9, Jay R, Yeng Constantino and Karylle. Though the new album is yet untitled, it is set for release in the next three months.
According to Young JV, the new album will have more danceable tracks in the vein of David Guetta, have more songs in Filipino, and will showcase more of his singing ala Bruno Mars.
“I’m hungry to record again…nanggigigil,” he told Bulletin Entertainment in an exclusive interview. “Medyo na-busy ako sa mga shows last year kaya babawi naman ako sa music ko.”
He refers to “ASAP Rocks” and “ShoutOut Level Up” where he regularly appears and performs on either en solo or with the group A-Pop. He also got occupied with live shows, most recent of which were in Iloilo and at Assumption College.
Note that last year, Young JV was one of those handpicked to open for “Supafest” featuring international stars Flo-Rida, T-Pain,
Kelly Rowland and Sean Kingston---a proof of how fast he’s becoming in-demand in the live circuit.
“So far, so good. I have more plans,” he hinted about the next 12 months.
These plans begin with the release of the fifth and last single from “Ready Or Not.” The track titled “Kaibigan Lang” will be served to radio and music channels in the next few days. It comes on the heels of his songs “That Girl,” “Don’t Know You,” “Shake Shake” and “Can’t Get Enough.”
Despite his busy schedule, Young JV has not forgotten to pay it forward. The artist, in fact, plans to be more active this year with his Lahing Bayani Foundation Inc., whose beneficiaries are the soldiers’ orphans.
He is also into upping his dancing skills by taking more lessons. He aims to be known for his “hataw” skills on the dance floor.
“Kahit pare-pareho kami ni Gloc 9 at Francis Magalona na ‘rappers,’ magkakaiba pa din kami ng forte kaya nga di pwedeng i-compare. For me, ang gusto kong i-develop pa ay yung dancing skills ko para na din mas lively ang performance ko,” Young JV said.
Asked about his choice of collaborators in the next album, he said that he and Karylle have long wanted to record together. The two met when they were both tapped by their record label, PolyEast Records, to do the same mall shows last year.
As for Jay R, Gloc 9 and Yeng, he said that he admires their music and feels that working with each of them will produce something interesting.
